Tamkesi


Lopo or granary house

Tamkesi is a small village where the local people make potteries by using tradiotional tools for daily activities.This village has become a well known place in North Central Timor Regency and visited by many tourists every month.About the area, it’s located in North Central Timor Regency,more or less 30 kilometers from the main town of Kefamenanu.The area is cloudy almost everyday and the weather is cool.
           The people of Tamkesi are friendly,generous and polite.  The Local language (Dawan) is used for daily speaking because most of them couldn’t speak Indonesia language.There are some beautiful objects like granary houses,two hills and a thick forest around it.In the past,the local people used the place for a special event.They had to hold a ritual ceremony after the harvest time.Today, they have diffirent civilization so they don’t almost use this place anymore,even so they still keep this place good,because some of them moved on to the new village beneath of old village.
